Good Morning...
I was out at the lake this morning, having spent the evening with my brother's family who are about to head back to FL, and, as I often do, I went out to watch the sunrise over the cool, quiet morning water. It was a particularly nice morning as we got more than an inch of rain in the last day or so, and the air was fresher and cooler that it's been in a while. I got a lot of sun spots (along with all the dust on my sensor) in some of the sun shots, and in one of the water shots there are some that seem to come alive...

moments...
Well, no picture for this one. I was just driving home from town in the after sunset glow, intermittent rain, wondering where I would go and what I would do if I decided to move someplace different. I love it here, but there are days when I just feel so isolated from folks like me. The light around me most of the way home was pretty surreal - everything was glowing first sort of purple, then reddish orange. As I was approaching my turn, I saw a great big rainbow, albeit sort of faint. The reason I am putting this here is that it must have been really special. I mean, do you ever see a rainbow after the sun has set? As it's getting dark?

distant thunder
It's been so nice having some normal weather the last week or two. As I paint on the front porch, thunderstorms come and go - pushing me into the cabin at times, others spitting on me there. This afternoon as I was working on the painting below, there was thunder in the distance, but no rain. It is still thundering...
healing painting
These paintings are like active meditations. They take longer and require a meditative engagement and sometimes tedious repetitive movement. They can feel like a trance sometimes. Today is the first time I was aware of information that came in as I was painting. It had to do with envy (and came after the colors had been chosen and the painting begun). The healing is in the painting (doing) as well as in the finished work, and I hesitate to share what comes up for me, because the purpose of the painting for another may be altogether different. I haven't yet figured out which way is up for this painting.

wild goodies...
Two days ago I took my 9 year old niece out to see my pal Jesse out in Satolah, and to pick some cherries, etc. It was a really nice visit, and in addition to picking and eating lots of cherries, we also got to go out on his "buzzard rock" and visit his "sang" patch. I am so lucky to have such special friends in my life.
Jesse has this rock in his back yard where you can see most of Highlands, NC and then back over to Rabun Bald (Satolah is in GA, pretty close to NC)
(I didn't realize that ginseng even got that big.)
(this is on the roof of Jesse's house)
Jesse makes these beautiful berry buckets - just like the native americans used to make.
