Driving Home
Driving home from Charleston today, I really had to pee at one point so I turned off into a State Park area in search of a ladies room, which I found just in time... I also found a beautiful short walk through a cypress wood along the Edisto river. Only sorry I didn't bring a tripod. I leaned on the trees and knees, but sharpness was still elusive. I will go back again. In the meantime, this is what it looks like.

Charleston Snapshots
I'm in Charleston with my mother, looking into her family history. My great, great grandfather was blacksmith/artist who created some of the historic gates in Charleston, including those at St. Michael's Church. We have tromped around cemeteries and around the streets where my mom and her mom and her mom and so on resided. Here are some snapshots from our first day...

Photographs...
These photographs - studies of transparency and reflection - are printed (C Prints) ~16x24 inches and face mounted with .25" plexiglass.
While creating images that capture the purity of clean flowing water – something many have never seen, much less submerged themselves into – I am very aware of the issues of scarcity, compromised quality and competition over water as a resource in general. These remain under the surface, inspiring me further to convey the restorative quality that I experience from water – visually, physically, emotionally, spiritually. Not only is it absolutely necessary for life, water provides solace to many of us who travel to be near it as a source of calm and inspiration. Living in the mountains, I sometimes forget how strong the impact of nature is on those who live apart from it. When I lived in New York City, I thrived on the smallest injection of nature's healing energy. If my images impart a little of that to even one person, I have accomplished a great deal.
