Happy New Year!

May it be inspiring, enlightening, enlivening and heart opening for all of us...

cold day
sunny anyway
not a cloud
nor a sound
but for the fire
crackling

arising
awareness
awake
presence
love
manifest

peace
full
moon
warm
sun
moist
earth
cool, clear
water
inhabiting
dreams
dreaming
this
now world

awake
aware
energy
pulsing
between
bodies
across
our web
electrified
dreams
enlivening
this new earth

  1. YES! inspiring, enlightening, enlivening, and most of all heart opening. So Honor - you've made a good start already! Thanks for the encouragement.

    P.S.your:
    "our web
    electrified
    dreams
    enlivening
    this new earth"

evokes for me a knitting together of energy coming through electrons, either in water, earth, dreams, or this Internet connection - all webs of moving electrons, right?

  2. Every one!
When you read Honor's first stanza:

    cold day
    sunny anyway
    not a cloud
    nor a sound
    but for the fire
    crackling

read it aloud several times. Doesn't it really sing! It's what the poet Donald Hall called the "mouth fun" in poetry. The "energy" Honor mentions much further down is manifested here in this first stanza. You can personally experience it bodily here in this first stanza if you say it aloud. Try it! it feels Beautiful!

Notice its announcing beginning: "cold day"
like two equally deep kettledrum drum beats.
    And then its end:
    "crackling"
like a quick two beat snare drum flourish.

Notice how the sound of "cold" elides into "cloud," then softens into "sound" and then the "c" sound sharpens up at last into the two quick successive "c's" in "crackling." Isn't that so satisfying and fun to play in your mouth and ear?

And then, explore what develops through the repeated "n" sounds too in this first stanza, especially the vowel sounds that are attached to it each time.

Now forget all this, and read it again aloud to yourself, and then share it with someone else, and enjoy!
