Raven Rock...

Before I went to the studio today, though, I took a hike with some friends down to the river.... and tried out a new lens...

I'm shifting back to the smaller paintings for now, and found today that there will be some catch up time, since it's been a while. I have yet to get quite back into the groove, but here's the start...

Chantilly...

Friends Pete and Marianna were visiting from Scotland today, so I took them for a quick visit out at the lake. They only had about an hour, so we had time for Pete to find some birds and a large mouth bass (dead, unfortunately), and of course more water reflections...

Old Friends

I was out at Tumbling Waters the other day, visiting with Susan and Catherine - the amazing women who started TW camp back in the early 70's (I think). What special people they are. While there I walked their trail on their property and remembered how much there is to see in bits of trees... Actually, it was through my time at Tumbling Waters that I developed my special love of these hills and their woods.

I hope to return before long with an old-fashioned film camera and take some portraits of Susan and Catherine.

Just as I started taking a few photos today, my battery died. Will have to go back tomorrow. In the meantime, a couple shots of Martin Creek from this afternoon. Happy Fall!

I truly love the work that I am privileged to do, and am graced to meet wonderful, inspiring folks along the way. I learn so much from each client, and the work is deeply engaging and fulfilling. I am so grateful to live and work in a place where I am surrounded by authentic beauty that is also reflected in those who are lucky enough to spend time here.

Published in France!

I recently enjoyed collaborating with poet and author (among other things) Thomas Rain Crowe on a small broadside published by Les Aretes Editions in France. I used some of my new photographic works as a backdrop for Thomas' poem, "May It Continue," which is a call to acknowledge many fragile elements of our world and is a plea to their continued existence. Sandrine at Les Aretes Editions made a fine broadside, complete with outer covering. Take a look at her blog.

"It's an interesting experience having someone stare at you and study your body parts while being expected to sit quietly staring at something that you are told to stare at. I'm sure glad Honor is fun to be with. It was a great experience and it was wonderful to see Honor's ability to interpret us so accurately and interestingly. I also learned many new ways to use four letter words and gained alot of weight from drinking red wine and eating while she painted. Cowee Gothic is something we will always treasure."
