After laundry, painting and seeing the plumber again, I went out in some rich cove woods with my friend Jack. Here is a little of what I saw.
If I hadn't filled up the memory card, I would have captured this bug getting the fly. Just as he grabbed it, I pressed the button and my card was full. So I had to quickly erase some photos then shoot him with the bug. Still, pretty cool strange bug, hunting...
These last four are Blood Root plants. They have beautiful red roots, and when they first come up, their leaves are snug around the pretty white flowers in a bundle. It's quite beautiful, I think.

Acrylic vs. Oil...
I painted this on the 28th. After three days in an enclosed space with 18 people painting with oils (and paint thinner) and no ventilation, I was pretty toxic. So when I got home, I decided to start out with acrylic. I do not like what I did. I wasn't going to post it, but for the sake of keeping track, here it is. At least is shows a taste of spring. It was so nice coming home from FL to the sweet smell of springtime in the southland...

Carol Marine Workshop
This weekend I participated in a "painting a day" workshop with Carol Marine
It was a lot of fun with a great group of folks and neat to finally meet Carol, after looking at her work grow over the last couple of years. Here are the paintings I did during the workshop. There is only one that I like as a painting (the first one). The others are simply exercises.
I look forward to getting back to painting every day when I get home.
This one with the orange was the final painting I did. The composition ruins it, but I like the little cup anyway.
This last one was an exercise for which we made deliberate strokes, each time mixing a new color.

Shuttle Launch
Last week when I was in St. Augustine I saw something I hadn't seen before. I didn't know how cool the space shuttle launch would be, so I didn't have my camera handy. Afterward I went and grabbed it and got this photo of its trail. After that, there was this one cloud that was really bright in the sky, even though the sun had set. It was as if it was lit up by a full moon, but it was not.

Finally...
I'm going to Florida tomorrow to see family, and I made some photographs today that I guess are about this trip. Spring is starting here and I look forward to getting my garden started when I get home...
Well, it's been so long since I've posted I almost forgot how. Sorry - construction and plumbing problems and working out of town got the better of me, but today I was getting some art stuff ready for a workshop I'm attending next weekend, and as I mixed the medium I'll be using, something neat happened. These photos show you what inspired me about the medium I was mixing in the ball jar. The bottom photo shows you the subject of this portrait. (These are simple, straight photographs)
